‘Isle of Auskerry’ produces a range of items made from the North Ronaldsay seaweed-eating sheep. The sheepskin rugs are all in natural colours and symmetrically marked with the distinctive spine and saddle markings of this breed.
The woven throws are designed to reflect Orkney’s connections with the Hudson Bay Company, contrasting the natural colours of the wool with some of the yarn dyed to match the colours of seaweed found on the beaches: flame orange, rhubarb pink, heather purple and moss green.
Visit their website to see the rest of their range which includes hand felted table mats and coasters, pincushion and needlecase kits, cafetiere covers, sheepskin insoles and natural knitting yarn in three colours.
